To display the unit’s ROM and CPU version:
Turn the unit on.
Enter the SYSTEM/System Information screen (press SYSTEM then F6 (Info)).
Press and hold the F6 (Info) button while pressing the 0
(zero) number button.
An information box is displayed with the ROM and CPU version as well as
the revision date.
Press the EXIT button to close the information box on the screen.
To display the unit’s RAM data in both hexadecimal values and ASCII text:
Turn the unit on.
Enter the SYSTEM/System Information screen (press SYSTEM then F6 (Info)).
Press and hold the F6 (Info) button while pressing the 7
(seven) number button.
The SYSTEM/Memory Dump screen will be displayed with the hexadecimal
values of the selected memory address displayed on the left side of the
screen and the equivalent ASCII characters on the right. The address (in
hexadecimal values) where to begin displaying data can be selected in the
“Address” field (top right of screen).
Press the F6 (Info) key to return to the SYSTEM/System Information screen.
To display the current state of all analog-to-digital converters (that detect the XP-80's controller changes) as well as calibrate the Pitch Bend and Modulation lever:
Turn the unit on.
Enter the SYSTEM/System Information screen (press SYSTEM then F6 (Info)).
Press and hold the F6 (Info) button while pressing the 1
(one) number button.
The SYSTEM/A/D Information screen will be displayed. All analog-to-digital
converter status information is shown. Calibration of the Pitch Bend and
Modulation lever is possible by moving the Pitch Bend lever to its
extremes as well as the Modulation portion of the lever to its extreme.
These values are not retained after the unit is switched off. Manual
calibration is possible through the use of the VALUE dial and INC and DEC
buttons. Manual calibration is required for the “Mid-L:H” values of the
Pitch Bend lever. This is the resting point “buffer zone.” No Pitch Bend
data will be sent between the values specified here. The "Mid-L:H" values
are retained when the unit is switched off.
Press the F6 (Info) button to return to the
SYSTEM/System Information screen.
To save an image file of the XP-80’s video RAM (proprietary file format) to floppy disk:
Turn the unit on.
Enter the SYSTEM/System Information screen (press SYSTEM then F6 (Info)).
Press and hold the F6 (Info) button and SHIFT button
while pressing the 9 (nine) number button.
An information box will appear confirming the entry into LCD Data Filing
Mode.
Press the ENTER button to confirm entry into the LCD Data Filing Mode.
Press the EXIT button to cancel.
The LOOP button’s indicator will begin blinking. The use of the LOOP
button for the LOOP functions will no longer be available.
To exit LCD Data Filing Mode, you must turn off the power to the unit.
To enter a diagnostics mode (XP-80 TEST):
Turn the unit off.
Press and hold the EFX button, UTILITY button, and
RHYTHM button while switching the unit on and waiting for the “XP-80 TEST”
display.
This is a diagnostics test of all the XP-80’s hardware and
analog-to-digital converters including LCD tests, button tests, Pitch Bend
and Modulation lever calibration, and disk drive testing. You are given
the option of initializing RAM to the default factory settings after
having completed or exiting the diagnostics test.

Some XP-80s have Flash ROM installed. Flash ROM provides a convenient way to update the XP-80 operating system. The current operating system can be installed using a software update procedure (instead of having to physically remove parts and replace them with new ones.) Units with the following serial numbers have Flash ROM installed.
